Position Summary Overview: Design, code, implement and maintain intersystem communications utilizing interface engine strategies based on HL7. Responsibilities: Analyze interface requirements; provide technical consultation and guidance for application system decisions; conduct meetings to analyze interface requirements and recommending solutions; contribute to application interface specifications ensuring standards compliance; determine correct protocols for hardware, NetWare and software; determine system configuration requirements for interfaces; monitor application data between systems and resolve any data errors found; consult with user departments to assess data flow, processes and their impact on interfaced environment; monitor interfaced systems lifecycle and report when new versions or modifications are indicated. Develop interfaces; establish data source and verify data content; verify data requirements for HL7 and X12; prepare charts, tables, process diagrams and interface data maps to aid in the analysis of interface development; organize and develop programming and analysis tasks; modify interface code as required. Conduct interface tests, develop reference materials, maintain interfaces and integrate new interfaces into production. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of Health Level Seven protocol; X.12 communications standard; management of interface engine software (STC´s e*gate, Healthcare.com´s Cloverleaf, HUBLINK, CAI); management of relational databases; networking and communication protocols; programming logic and programming languages; data analysis, file layouts and structures; hardware constraints on software. The ability to work with a variety of operating systems and client-server platforms; communicate with both technical and functional teams; demonstrate project management and good organizational skills; communicate complex requirements to team members so they understand the focus and scope of all interface projects. Education and Experience: Bachelor´s degree in computer science, science or math; three (3) years HL7/X.12 protocol experience; five (5) years interface development experience required. Project management/leadership experience; systems programming background (UNIX, NT); data communications background (TCP/IP, RS232) desirable.
