Lab Support Services Coordinator

PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Regional Lab Operations Manager, supervises and coordinates the day to day operations of the regional lab support service area including Client Services, Specimen Processing, Specimen Set Up and Inventory Management This position also has compliance accountability and/or responsibility for Kaiser Permanente´s policies and procedures, the Principles of Responsibility, accreditation standards, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.ACCOUNTABILITIES: (List of 4 - 6 primary responsibilities, not activities, in their order of importance)1. Supervises and maintains day to day operations of the Support Services Department2. Provides training and competency assessment to ensure ongoing competency of the staff in support services3. Manages pre and post analytic laboratory information flow4. Provides oversight to inventory management operations5. Resolves specimen quality issues in collaboration with the sending facility laboratories6. Evaluates ways to improve internal and external customer satisfaction7. Manages and schedules Support Services staff to include: Regional Lab Medical Laboratory Assistants, Regional Lab Specimen Processors, Regional Lab Aides and Regional Lab Client Service Representatives8. Works in effective partnership with the Laboratory Management Team9. Manages information flow to staff regarding policy and procedure changes10. Participates in internal and external educational programs to develop management skills11. The primary analytic responsibilities for the employee will be in the Chemistry section (includes Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Special Chemistry) of the Laboratory. Qualifications Required Job Qualifications include:Education: Bachelor degree in medical technology/clinical laboratory science or related science required. Will also accept MLT candidates who has completed Associate Degree in Clinical Science. Registration/Certification: Certification as MT (ASCP)/CLS(NCA) or MLT (ASCP) as appropriate, subspecialty certification such as BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), M(ASCP), etc. requiredOpen to new graduates from a medical technology program who are eligible to sit for the ASCP or NCA exams.
