The Health Sciences Centre is the largest health care facility in Manitoba, delivering a complex mix of patient care, professional education and research programs. The Centre is formally affiliated with the University of Manitoba and is an operating division of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. The facility employs more than 6,000 people; operates 800 active beds; delivers 250,000 admitted patient days of care annually; and supports 400,000 outpatient visits each year. Both staff and patient populations represent a rich diversity of people expressing a wide variety of cultures.
Opening in 2006, the Critical Services Redevelopment Project (CSRP) is a new 286,000 sq. ft. four-level addition to the Centre. It will include state-of-the art medical equipment and innovations in hospital care that are among the most complex and beneficial in modern medicine.
