The Department of Neurology is the largest and most comprehensive Neurology group in the state of Wisconsin, with programs in Adult Neurology, Pediatric Neurology, and Neuropsychology. As part of the Clinical Neuroscience Center, which includes Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Psychiatry, the department diagnoses and treats all neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, sleep, neuromuscular diseases, movement disorders and Parkinson disease, dementia, brain tumors, neuro-ophthalmology, and multiple sclerosis. The Department of Neurosurgery provides a full range of neurosurgical services for children and adults to include both surgical and non-surgical methods involving disorders in the skull, brain, spine, spinal cord, spinal nerves and peripheral nerves. The well-renowned surgical team treats traumatic injuries to the brain and spinal cord, removes tumors of the brain and spinal cord, repairs blood vessel abnormalities, manages injuries to the bone structure of the skull and spine, and repairs herniated spinal column discs. The Department of Neurosurgery occupies over 25,000 sq ft of research space, employing eight PhD scientists and 20 staff participating in federally and privately funded research projects. Established in 1964, the labs have bio-mechanical and basic lab capabilities that extend from molecular/cellular investigations to full-scale vehicular crashworthiness. These include: microscopic-, cellular-, and gene-level evaluations, spine biomechanics, isolated tissue testing, assessment of occupant injury mechanisms, and vehicle crashworthiness assessment. In addition to research, the department also offers a Neurological Surgery Residency Program having a seven-year curriculum sponsored by the Medical College of Wisconsins Affiliated Hospitals (MCWAH). The primary responsibility of the Practice Manager is to work with the Director of Practice Management, physicians, and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures regarding patient care, satisfaction and flow in a manner which is consistent with clinics mission and values. The ASC consists of 3 operating rooms that are open 4 days a week with an average of 250 cases per month. Cases vary and cover all specialties with the exception of Cardiac, Neuro and Spine. We have 43 physicians who use our facility. The ability to be proactive, work in a fast-paced environment, and have great communication skills are a must. This position requires a Masters Degree in Accounting, Business or Health Administration; three to five years of experience working in outpatient operations management of a multi-specialty clinic; and experience working with contracts. Collaboratively establishes priorities to develop short- and long-range plans for changing populations of patients, space management and new programs. This will include progression to a new state of the art Emergency Medicine facility in the new East Wing of the Hospital in late 2010. 2. Provides leadership and direction for all human resources issues within the departments. Recruits, hires, trains, disciplines and supervises staff including completion of performance evaluations and competency assessments. Maintains and updates staff procedure manuals, staff training programs and quality assurance programs. 3. This position will require astute business management of the service line as we move to the new Emergency Department. Develops and manages budget. Ensures cost-effective daily operations and allocation of section resources; develops goals and objectives to correspond with department standards. 4. Acts as a contributing member of the nurse management team. Masters degree in nursing required, Masters in healthcare, or business administration preferred. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington, required. 5 years of increasingly responsible management experience. Extensive clinical and business knowledge of Emergency Medicine is required , which may include appropriate certifications, excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills, and understanding of budgets and planning.
