JOB DUTIESScope of the Job:Installs, configures, and troubleshoots local area computer networks (internal and external) and associated assemblies by performing the following duties. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Assists in the design of new network and server systems.Essential FunctionsThe essential functions are the primary dimensions for performance review.1. Performs analysis of network needs and contributes to design of network architecture, integration, security, and installation.2. Evaluates local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.3. Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services Coordinates installation of hardware and software by others.4. Installs and maintains local area network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, workstations, network nodes, terminals, and wiring.5. Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.6. Provides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usage.7. Monitors and maintains network stability. Corrects network problems and outages as they occur.8. Communicates and coordinates network schedule, backups, and downtime to users.9. Provides consulting services to other departments as a high level contributor.10. On call 24 X 7 for network and server related issues.Secondary Functions:Performs a variety of complicated tasks.May lead and direct the work of others.Other duties as assigned.Temperament Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCESkills:Superior customer service skills.High level knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting procedures using advanced troubleshooting skills.Relies on advanced experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Quick learner / good at researching, reading, digging for answers.Excellent communication skills at technical and non-technical levels. Excellent time management and multitasking skills. Attention to detail and quality of work. Ability to manage stressful situations in a calm, courteous and efficient manner.The drive and ability to see problems through to completion.Experience:Minimum eight to ten years experience required.PC client and server hardware and software experience.Experience with all Microsoft operating systems.Experience with Microsoft workstation and server administration.Advanced knowledge of network routers, hubs, switches and their configuration, terms and concepts.Education and Certifications:High School Graduate or GED equivalent.Graduate of PC and/or networking technical program preferred.MCSE certified recommended.CCNA certification very helpful
