Position Summary Overview: Store, prepare and deliver a mother´s milk to hospitalized infant. Responsibilities: Accurately weigh, measure and prepare mother´s own milk for infant feeding. Use sanitary techniques to prepare and store mother´s milk. Prepare labels to identify mother´s milk for individually-prepared feedings. Document the number of syringes/bottles, milk volumes and additives of human milk preparation. Enter patient charges daily. Deliver prepared milk to the nursing units. Perform cash/credit transactions for rental of breastfeeding equipment and/or purchase of breastfeeding supplies. Instruct parents on the proper operation and maintenance of breastfeeding equipment at the time of rental. Monitor and maintain operation and sanitation of breastfeeding equipment. Communicate with lactation consultants, nurses, co-workers and parents to ensure accurate milk preparation, collection and storage. Maintain daily inventory and stock of all needed supplies and equipment required for human milk collection, preparation and storage. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of milk preparation, measurement and sanitary techniques. Ability to maintain sanitation levels, operate computers on a basic level, operate electronic scales with a high degree of accuracy and operate an electric breast pump and infant scale. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare-related (preferably food and nutrition) work experience required.
