Quick Leonard Kieffer is currently accepting applicants and nominations for the position of President of the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System. The Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital (CEFH) is the only eye specialty hospital in Alabama and one of the few facilities in the world entirely dedicated to advancements in ophthalmology. The hospital treats approximately 20,000 patients each year and offers the only 24 hour, 7 day a week eye emergency room in the State of Alabama. With fine health care professionals, state-of-the-art equipment, and surgery suites, the hospital offers excellence in cataract, retinal, vitreal, and pediatric eye surgeries. The Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital is also a leader in ophthalmology research, with six research labs and projects that range from a Driving Assessment Clinic to progressive Macular Degeneration Research.The President & CEO is administratively responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital. This individual is the leader of the CEFH management team as well as a member of the UAB Medicine and UAB Health System senior teams. (UAB Medicine is the brand name for the academic component of the UAB Health System). A minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive administrative experience is required and previous experience in a highly complex environment is preferred. Prior experience in an academic medical center and/or specialty hospital environment will be viewed favorably, as will ambulatory care experience. A bachelor´s degree is required and a Masters degree is preferred.
