Hartford Hospital, located in Southern New England, has an exciting opportunity available for an Emergency Department Director.
Hartford Hospital is an urban, 860-bed, academic teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Connecticut. Our ED is a regional Level 1 Trauma Center with 6 major resuscitation rooms, 35 acute care examination and treatment rooms, 12 behavioral health exam rooms, and 8 fast track rooms. The department works closely with Life Star, Connecticuts only air medical transport service, as well as Connecticut Childrens Medical Center (CCMC) located on the property of Hartford Hospital, just few paces outside the ED.The Emergency Department Director will report to VP of Patient Care Services and be responsible for directing and coordinating the Emergency Department in a manner reflective of the Hospitals Mission and Vision, as well as acting as a liaison between hospital administration and the staff.The ideal candidate will: drive increased satisfaction- patient, employee and physician; support Hartford Hospitals continuity and achievement of goals through strong collaboration, negotiation and communications skills and will facilitate effective utilization of resources and continuous performance improvement by encouraging excellence and innovation. Responsible for managing human and other resources within budgetary guidelines inclusive of HH standards while maintaining the goals of quality patient care and optimal customer service/satisfaction. The candidate will also function as a change agent for culture shift, with experience in systems/process improvement, quality improvement and lean work flow.The incumbent will possess the following academic/experiential credentials:BS, MS required: one degree must be in nursing. CEN certification, minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in emergency department management. Strong track record of partnering effectively with physicians, administrator and other leaders to achiever results; demonstrated success in attaining positive results in patient satisfaction, customer service and staff satisfaction, and capability to make difficult decisions using sound reasoning, consistency and fairness.
