This position is accountable for the medico-administrative aspects of the Medical Staff organization; serves as an essential link between senior management and the Medical Staff to promote and enhance good communications and positive working relationships. Responsible for establishing and maintaining continuity in the planning, development and implementation of standards applicable to the Medical Staff members relating to governance, credentialing, quality/peer review, continuing medical education, medical library and administrative functions. Responsible for the Medical Staffs preparation, documentation, and organization and follow-up involved in maintaining hospital accreditation and licensure. Provides administrative direction for the departments operations, budgeting, strategic planning, and development of information systems and coordination of information flow. Responsible for establishing, contributing and maintaining continuity in the implementation of standards applicable to the Medical Staff relating to credentialing, quality and governance functions. Minimum education Bachelors degree preferred, or associates degree in Medical Staff Sciences and equivalent courses. Training that includes management, written and verbal communication skills. Minimum experience of five years management experience in an acute care healthcare facility in Medical Staff services preferred, or an applicable healthcare related area, to include management of personnel, accredited programs, events, presentations and information systems. Current knowledge of and successful application of medico-legal issues and regulatory agency requirements/standards. Proven track record in the following aspects: professional character, responsibility through commitment to and completion of assignments, openess to others viewpoints, responsiveness, and ability to lead and cultivate others skills. Certification in Medical Staff management optional. Well developed written and verbal communication skills. Computer literate and well organized.
