This position is responsible for the direct management and supervision of day-to-day operations of the Educational Services Department of Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
The position is chiefly one of role model, educator, consultant staff/patient advocate, change agent, leader and cost effective professional. Also tracks and maintains competency for all other staff as well.*Supervises, mentors, and develops nurse educator(s) and clerical staff by providing guidance concerning problem solving and professional development*Teaches ACLS, BLS, PALS and facilitates courses hospital and community-wide; serves as Training Center Coordinator. *Actively participates in leadership meetings and interdisciplinary committees to support programs and meet educational needs of the hospital staff*Plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of educational offerings in order to improve nursing care and clinical/organizational outcomes. *Elevates the standard of professional nursing practice at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by developing , coaching, precepting, and mentoring staff to become expert clinicians and leaders.*Facilitates preceptor courses and develops facility-wide preceptors; facilitates the preceptor program for new employees and ensures success*Facilitates educational offerings for hospital staff (Lunch and Learn, Nursing Grand Rounds, monthly education via Healthstream, and Annual Safety Fair) *Facilitates new graduate dinner and other educational offerings for schools of nursing including job shadowing*Serves as hospital liaison for schools of nursing and ensures facilitation of orientation for nursing school educators/instructors and health care students*Ensures employee files are up to date and accurate per local policy as well as ISDH & JCAHO standards*Serves as resource to staff in resolution of complex problems*Maintains currency in clinical field though continuing education, literature, and seminars*Performs other duties as assigned*Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations PolicyEssential educational/licensure, skills and experience:RN, licensed in Indiana with Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN)Minimum of five years clinical experience in acute care hospital setting Above average communication skills: verbal and written Knowledge of adult learning principlesTwo years of experience leading and directing the work of othersCurrent BLS certificationValued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:Previous experience in role of hospital Educational Services activities including training delivery, implementation, and support American Heart Association Instructor statusMasters Degree in Nursing, Education, or ManagementPhysical demands and the work environment: Physical demands: This position will require you to lift 10 pounds or less frequently, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
