SUMMARY: * Under limited supervision, directs and coordinates the daily activities and operations of the patient accounts department.* Establishes and interprets policies, in addition to recommending policy changes to the Director, PFS.* Responsible for interviewing and hiring new employees and conducts performance evaluations. * Responsible for reviewing and monitoring monthly ATB report and preparing a monthly analysis of AR for Director, PFS. * Responsible for assisting Director, PFS in establishing collection goals and objectives. * Responsible for achieving established AR goals monthly. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * To qualify for the position, the candidate must have a Bachelor´s Degree in Management or a related field with 5 years management experience in Billing and Insurance.* Follow-up in a an hospital environment or ten (10) years experience in hospital third party billing, insurance follow-up and accounts receivable management. * Must possess knowledge of third party payer regulations and billing requirements, ICD-9 and HCPCS Coding, HSCRC reimbursement, HIPAA and FISS systems. * Knowledge of Meditech B/AR application preferred. SKILLS & ABILITIES: * Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology required.* Demonstrated knowledge of UB92 billing requirements (i.e. 8371). * Demonstrated knowledge of third party payor´s regulations and requirements. * Demonstrated knowledge of medical record coding and Medicare groupings (CPT, ASC, APG, ACD-9).* Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and implement effective strategies to enhance the financial performance of the department and the organization. * Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.* Ability to effectively evaluate complex systems/processes, develop a course of action and follow through to resolution.* Demonstrated attention to detail and organization skills.* Ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of patients and the confidentiality of hospital and departmental documents required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: CPAM is preferred.
