Coding Compliance Supervisor

Provide on going direction and supervision to coding, charge entry staff and prior authorization and referral staff. Provide ongoing coding education for Owatonna Clinic staff. Direct the creation and revision of coding policies, procedures, and work instructions related to the business office. Assist with maintenance of clinic billing software application(s).Actively participates in the ongoing management and review of concurrent coding by: assisting staff with coding issues, setting coding staff expectations and standards for performance for quality and quantity and providing feedback and assisting in Provider CPT or E&M coding education and follow-up. - Identify need for coding policies and direct the execution of documentation, approval and training to coding staff. - Knowledge of payer rules and regulations as relates to coding of services. - Provides and/or coordinates on-going coding education/training to appropriate OC coding staff as needed/requested.- Supervises coding staff and charge data entry staff. - Attends ESPN meetings on new services. In addition, contacts providers when aware they are researching new services to ensure coding compliance.- Utilizes change management skills to implement coding workflow changes, software enhancements and other coding activities. - Monitor insurance denials related to coding and charge entry. Facilitate internal process improvements to assure a high percentage of clean claims. - Manage provider charge sheet updates (ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS codes)- Seeks out, documents and trains staff in process improvement activities.- Leads staff selection, orientation, training, yearly performance evaluations, goal setting, education/training needs assessment.- Willingly participates in other tasks as assigned.Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:- High School education or equivalent required.- Four year degree in related field required.- Three years required experience as credentialed/certified RHIT or, CCS or, CPC. - Two years prior coding supervisory experience required.- Proficient in ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure coding; CPT-4 coding required.- Working knowledge of documentation review process. - Working knowledge of third party payer reimbursement guidelines.- The desired candidate will possess working knowledge of computer systems and applications; McKesson and Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAdditional Experience and/or Qualifications:- Must be well organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and efficient.- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Possess strong leadership, problem solving and interpersonal skills.- Must be a self-starter and utilize independent judgment. - Able to manage multiple priorities. - Willingness to accept and promote change when necessary. - Flexibility is essential in scheduling and prioritizing work assignments.- Ability to deal with difficult situations and maintain professional demeanor.Licensure/Certification Required :- RHIT or, CCS or, CPC certification required.

Summit Orthopedics is in search of a Director of Ancillary Services. This position provides leadership and general management oversight for multiple ancillary services. This position is responsible for the overall performance of the sites and associated teams with the goal of strategic initiative achievement and continuous progression toward the Summits vision.The position is the principal arm of the management team at ancillary service (and related) sites responsible for the implementation and measurement of performance, processes, procedures, services, or personnel. This position will manage coding and charge entry staff by monitoring daily procedures, resolving coding issues, and providing necessary training.Main Duties:- Training and educating staff and providers on Coding processes and compliance.- Supervising coding staff and ensuring daily procedures function efficiently and smoothly.- Responsible for checking batches for accuracy and completeness of charge entry and coders.- Resolving coding issues.- Providing education to new and existing physicians and midlevels.- Performing physician and mid-level coding audits to work towards compliance.- Completing audits on charges and medical records completeness.- Identifying physician services provided, but not adequately documented in the medical record. Refers case to a review physician when the treatment request does not meet necessarily per guidelines, when guidelines are not available, or per customer account instructions. Referrals must be made in a timely manner, allowing the review physician time to make appropriate contact with the attending provider.Qualifications:RN - BSN preferred. 3-5 years of acute care experience preferred.
