The Performance Improvement Specialist is Responsible for providing on-site support for quality monitoring, performance improvement and education activities. Facilitates compliance with Medicare, JCAHO, along with state licensure and VITAS Healthcare Requirements, and handles Corporate-based duties. Assists with quality monitoring and program evaluation, assists with responses to Focused Medical Review, and participates in the development of company-wide initiatives.Bachelor´s degree in nursing preferred.Qualified candidates must be credentialed and licensed (as required) health care professional. Certified Professional in Health Care Quality preferred. Experience with data collection, basic statistics and statistical measurement tools, and data analysis. Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills. Must be organized and detail oriented. Experience with spreadsheet and word processing programs; experience with databases a plus. Knowledge of hospice operations and performance improvement strategies; well-organized, detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills; experienced with data collection and analysis; have the ability to create spreadsheets and be familiar with various software programs, and be able to travel.

Performance Competencies1. Ensures Hospital Departments, Clinics, etc., are prepared for unannounced surveys. -Ensures Staff understands how to comply with the regulation and accreditation standards of The Joint Commission (TJC), HFAP/AOA, and/or CMS. -Determines corrective action, when needed, sets priorities for improvement, and establishes deadline for completion. -Assures elements of performance are evaluated for appropriate compliance. 2. Engages Hospital District in interactive dialogues on standards-based issues in order to assess compliance and to identify deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points. -Effectively communicates information to Hospital Districts leadership in a constructive and collegial style. -Provides feedback to the Manager of Quality Management regarding organization compliance.3. Monitors TJC and other relevant regulatory and professional standards, and communicates changes in a timely manner. -Organizes teams to assess and document completion of assigned standards.4. Serves as an internal consultant and facilitator. Provides on-site education and training to assist in survey preparation, improving quality of patient care, understanding the survey process and the requirements of the elements of the standards, assessing the organizations systems, processes, and strategies to meet standards

The Chief Quality Officer is responsible for planning, administration, and monitoring of consistent readiness of all quality management, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement processes.
