Position Summary: Must meet basic competencies of Processing Technician. Responsible for assembling, packaging, sterilizing, cleaning and decontaminating routine surgical instruments, and patient care equipment. Monitoring sterilizers and associated equipment. Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and stocking supplies & instruments. Position Qualifications:Must demonstrate basic knowledge of sterilization & decontamination equipment. Basic knowledge of arithmetic is required. Must have demonstrated accuracy in checking, posting and counting, plus must be able to identify numerous pieces of surgical instruments/ equipment. Must be able to demonstrate the cleaning and sterilization method that is appropriate. High school diploma or GED certification required. Must demonstrate competencies of 6-month training (Processing Tech). Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to work independently. Must have ability to lift & move 50 lbs. Certification as a SPD Technician by a recognized certification agency is required within 18 months from date of hire. Failure to obtain certification within 18 months will result in termination from this position. Must demonstrate professionalism, dedication, communication, productivity, and quality improvement initiatives in daily activities.Individual will be expected to consistently meet performance standards such as accuracy and timely assembly of sets, good attendance, teamwork, and most importantly, excellent customer service skills. Individual will be expected to act in a respectful and professional manner at all times, even under stressful situations.
