MacNeal Hospital , a fully accredited teaching hospital located just minutes from downtown Chicago and steps away from the Metra train stop, has the following opportunity available:Lead Tumor Registrar You will be responsible for supporting the hospitals American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accredited cancer program by operating and developing goals, objectives and strategic plans; obtaining approval and implementation of the oncology program; and contributing to treatment planning, staging and continuity of care of cancer patients.Requirements include: RHIT credential and/or ten years of Tumor Registry experienceCertified Tumor Registrar (CTR) designationThree to five years experience working in an accredited cancer registry programParticipation in one Commission on Cancer survey preferredExperience in abstracting, coding and site specific stagingKnowledge of AJCC, ACOS, IDPH, SEER, COC, NCDB, FORDS guidelinesKnowledge of the origins and scientific basis for the current synoptic cancer reporting formats and protocols approved by the CAP and ACOSKnowledge of the mandatory Illinois cancer reporting requirementsAbility to utilize various nomenclature and classification (coding, ICD-0, ICD-9) systems pertinent to various diseases identified by the hospital for data collectionPC proficiency for database managementAbility to interpret, assemble, present and calculate statistical reports pertaining to frequency, distribution, cancer surveillance and control.We offer an excellent work environment and generous compensation packages.
