Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for facilitating proper charge capture, billing and adjudication of claims in accordance with standard billing policies and reimbursement principles, clinical documentation practices, and CPT/HCPCS and ICD-9-CM coding through the use of the hospitals electronic information systems and manual processes. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: - Associates degree in Finance, Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration or a related discipline.- Certification in CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or specialty coding- Five years experience in hospital charge capture process review, medical record review, claims auditing experience with hospital background and working with regulatory and policy compliance issues related to federal and state programs.- Three years experience in hospital working with electronic Patient Financial Management and Medical Records information systems and manual processes outside of these electronic systems.- Two to three years of experience providing charge capture related consulting service in an external healthcare consulting firm or as an external contractor.- Two years of experience in reviewing medical records for medical necessity, charging and coding Preferred Qualifications: - A strong understanding of HIPAA laws and requirements as they relate to review and reporting of documentation.- Experience in working with AMPFM- Knowledge of managed care and third party payer benefits designs and reimbursement requirements.- Nursing certification- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in order to produce reports, analyses and other detail as requested

Emergency Medicine Associates, a dynamic practice management company with contracts in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., is seeking a person to run a large medical billing practice. The Director of Billing Systems Integration (DBSI) is responsible for the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the billing processes including coding, customer service, electronic data acquisition, data entry, commercial/managed care billing, chart reconciliation activities, hospital interfaces, support services and remote office personnel. The DBIS is also responsible for the success of the revenue cycle, oversight of the retrieval of all patient encounter records, timely and accurate coding, timely charge entry and A/R management, oversight and knowledge of the electronic claims submission/remittance activities including clean/failed claims percentages, number and percentage of re-bills and coordination with collection agency services. The DBIS must also interact effectively with external vendors, manage automated reporting processes and prepare executive management reports. Requirements:The qualified candidate must have a very strong IT background with continuous focus on automating processes and have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. The candidate must have at least 5 years of medical billing management experience, a Bachelors Degree, excellent analytical skills, knowledge of the statutes related to HIPPA, and be able to handle difficult situations with insight and professionalism.
