As part of the Clinical Neuroscience Center, which includes Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and Psychiatry, the department diagnoses and treats all neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, sleep, neuromuscular diseases, movement disorders and Parkinson disease, dementia, brain tumors, neuro-ophthalmology, and multiple sclerosis. The Department of Neurosurgery provides a full range of neurosurgical services for children and adults to include both surgical and non-surgical methods involving disorders in the skull, brain, spine, spinal cord, spinal nerves and peripheral nerves. The well-renowned surgical team treats traumatic injuries to the brain and spinal cord, removes tumors of the brain and spinal cord, repairs blood vessel abnormalities, manages injuries to the bone structure of the skull and spine, and repairs herniated spinal column discs. The Department of Neurosurgery occupies over 25,000 sq ft of research space, employing eight PhD scientists and 20 staff participating in federally and privately funded research projects. Established in 1964, the labs have bio-mechanical and basic lab capabilities that extend from molecular/cellular investigations to full-scale vehicular crashworthiness. These include: microscopic-, cellular-, and gene-level evaluations, spine biomechanics, isolated tissue testing, assessment of occupant injury mechanisms, and vehicle crashworthiness assessment. In addition to research, the department also offers a Neurological Surgery Residency Program having a seven-year curriculum sponsored by the Medical College of Wisconsins Affiliated Hospitals (MCWAH). That is what it takes to assume the key duties of this vital role with Ambulatory Services at the University of Maryland Medical Center a major teaching hospital and regional referral center for the state of Maryland, and beyond.Our Otorhinolaryngology Clinic provides care to patients presenting for treatment of conditions related to ear, nose and throat, as well as head and neck diagnoses. The clinic receives approximately 1200 patient visits per month. As Nurse Manager, you will oversee a staff of RNs, Medical Assistants and Clerical staff. Other areas of responsibility include management of the operating budget, clinical monitoring, and staff selection.To qualify, we seek an RN, with a Masters in Nursing or a related field, or completion of a Masters degree within two years of assuming the role. Clinical background in ENT nursing is preferred. Current or previous management experience is also preferred. Advanced certification is a plus.
