SUMMARY: An acute care medical language specialist transcribes the basic four reports (history & physical, consultation, operative report and discharge summary), in addition to numerous diagnostic studies from other departments in an acute care facility. Required Experience: At least three (3) consecutive years experience in acute care transcription with ability to type the basic four reports, in addition to maintaining quality and production standards. Required Competencies/Behaviors: - Demonstrates thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and BOS Transcription Guidelines. - Meets quality and production standards. - Familiarity with ESL dictators. - Demonstrates proven skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, style and editing. - Demonstrates the ability to use designated professional reference materials. - Demonstrates good computer skills and familiarity with transcription software. - Experience with Meditech and/or EXText Word Client helpful.- High School Diploma/GED
