Summary Under the supervision of the Manager of Medical Records, the Coordinator is responsible for supporting the hospitals American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accredited cancer program by operating and developing goals, objectives, strategic plans, obtains approval and implementation of the oncology program and contributes to treatment planning, staging and continuity of care of cancer patients. JOB QUALIFICATIONS 1. The level of knowledge equivalent a minimum of a RHIT credential and/or two years of Tumor Registry experience. 2. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) designation. 3. Two to three years experience working in an accredited cancer registry program and having participated in one Commission on Cancer survey preferred. 4. Experience in abstracting, coding, and site specific staging. 5. Knowledge of AJCC, ACOS, IDPH, SEER, COC, NCDB, FORDS guidelines. 6. Knowledge of the origins and scientific basis for the current synoptic cancer reporting formats and protocols approved by the CAP and ACOS.7. Knowledge of the mandatory Illinois cancer reporting requirements. 8. Ability to utilize various nomenclature and classification (coding, ICD-0, ICD-9) systems pertinent to various diseases identified by the hospital for data collection. 9. Demonstrate the ability to effectively perform computer skills for database management. 10. Ability to interpret, assemble, present and calculate statistical reports pertaining to frequency, distribution, cancer surveillance and control.
