Exciting opportunity for a Manager, Outpatient Coding!

Reporting to the Regional Coding Director, responsible for managing and directing outpatient coding, data abstraction and associated activities. Ensures accurate and timely coding of outpatient records according to Vanguard Policies and Procedures. Directly manages all employees involved in outpatient coding and abstracting, provides direction for all hospital outpatient coding activities, audits, education, and productivity standards required to reach unbilled targets at all hospitals in the region. Performs duties as necessary to support quality improvement process in the Medical Record department, as well as that of the hospitals.Minimum 2-3 years of progressive Medical Record supervision. Three years of outpatient coding experience. Required level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate or Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management Administration, certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Should be an active member of the American Health Information Management Association and Local Health Information Management Association.

Seeking a Manager, Coding ER!

Ensures accurate and timely coding of emergency room coding/charging and ancillary charging according to Vanguard Policies and Procedures. Directly manages all employees involved in emergency room coding/charging, ancillary charging and abstracting, provides direction for all hospital emergency room coding/charging and ancillary charging activities, audits, education, and productivity standards required to reach unbilled targets at all hospitals in the region. Performs duties as necessary to support quality improvement process in the Medical Record department, as well as that of the hospitals. Minimum 2-3 years of progressive Medical Record supervision. Three years of emergency room/ancillary coding experience. Required level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate or Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management Administration, certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Should be an active member of the American Health Information Management Association and Local Health Information Management Association.

Responsible for conducting secondary review of IP claims per Vanguard Policy 12-0902C HDM 3M Audit Expert IP Coding Compliance Review. Minimum 5 years inpatient coding experience. Preferred experience in understanding of 3M Audit Expert System. Detail knowledge and understanding of MSDRGS and OIG work plan as it relates to correct coding and MSDRG assignment. Must be able to use standard office equipment and information systems. Understanding of the facilities information technology systems: Admitting, Charge/order entry, ARMS/ Coding Abstracting System, Xactimed/ Bill Scrubber and APC grouper logic. Ability to interact with other employees through effective communication regarding audits and ongoing issues identified. Preferred RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certifications.
