The Clinical Technical Instructor acts as a resource to students and trainees who are part of the reprocessing and surgical services staff. The instructor will educate the staff in the proper usage, organization, care and cleaning of routine and specialized instrumentation. This role will also assist management in evaluating competency of staff. The Instructor will also establish departmental processes as needed to ensure quality service is given to all customers that the department serves. Knowledge of medical technology at a level normally acquired through completion of Certified Sterile Processing Class or Surgical Technician School. Completion of an accredited Certified Sterile Processing Program.Approximately three to four years of work experience in an operating room setting with a working knowledge of medical terminology, surgical supplies and equipment.Twelve months experience as a preceptor in O.R. to enable incumbent to become familiar with conducting and developing educational in-services. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with Reprocessing and Surgical Services Staff, physicians and vendors.Analytical skills necessary to gather qualitative data to insure that the instrument needs of all departments are met.Ability to operate mainframe-based inventories management software.
