Achieves coding quality standards for all patient classes assigned with an error rate of 5.0% or less.2. Achieves coding quantity standards for ER/REC at an average of 6.0 minutes per record or less.3. Achieves coding quantity standards for SDC/Endoscopy records at an average of 10.0 minutes per record or less.4. Achieves coding quantity standards for UC/REF records at an average of 3.0 minutes per record or less.5. Achieves coding quantity standards for Inpatients (including Maternal Child Health) at an average of 22.0 minutes per record or less.6. Efficiently uses all available technical resources to ensure accuracy of coding.7. Accurately identifies the priority of coding requirements to meet department, group, and organization goals.8. Supports quality management and improvement program through participation in internal coding audits.9. Maintains technical expertise through reading subscription materials and technical bulletins provided in the department and attending professional seminars and in-house seminars and training classes as assigned.10. Proficiently uses all available computer software applications.11. Proficiently performs liaison functions between the hospital, various hospital departments, and the medical staff for coding and DRG information.12. Participates with the coding team to achieve timely and accurate coding and statistical data for inpatient and outpatient records.13. Provides routine coding status reports when requested.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS1. HS Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and/or experience2. Minimum of one (1) year acute care hospital DRG coding experience preferred3. Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, English composition or equivalent training/experience4. Excellent communication skills5. General office skills6. Personal computer operations, encoder software, word processing software, and health information management software applications7. 3M or other encoder experience preferredLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION1. Registered Health Information Technician and/or Certified Coding Specialist preferred
