Opportunity for a Director of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Services.
The Director of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Services manages a staff of 48 FTEs and an annual budget of 4.2 million and is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services which are congruent with the philosophy and goals of Patient Care Services and the mission and values of Children´s Hospital. The Director provides vision and leadership to clinicians and interdisciplinary teams who provide services and support to patients and their families. The Director must collaborate with senior leadership, management, and physician colleagues to achieve programmatic goals. The role requires the synthesis of clinical expertise, management knowledge and experience, business acumen, and practice responsibility to remain current in the disciplines of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and management. Responsibilities - Develops, implements, and evaluates strategic interdisciplinary programs which are consistent with the mission, values, and goals of Children´s Hospital. - Develops and implements equitable criteria and processes for selection, evaluation, promotion, and termination of all staff within designated areas of responsibility. - Develops strategies which enable the cultural change required to realize the departments vision of full participation in the continuum of care. - Ensures regulatory compliance with standards, laws and requirements of relevant agencies through appropriate systems and processes. - Determines, develops, and evaluates, budgets, administrative strategies, and (information) systems in support of clinical programs. - Maintains a fiscally sound operation with a positive operating margin. - Leads individuals and work groups to improve performance continuously by creating an environment that ensures application of quality principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes. - Creates an environment that fosters clinical excellence, sensitivity to the needs of patients and families, and leadership in service delivery. - Provides leadership for the development of and/or participation in studies, research, publications, and public presentations.- Develop a strategy for service delivery that is convenient for patients and their families and that takes full advantage of Children´s growing network of clinical sites. Requirements - The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelors degree in physical therapy at minimum, with closely related field and five to six years experience, Masters degree preferred. - The analytical skills to resolve scientific, clinical, human resources, legal, financial, or administrative problems that require the innovative application of the highest levels of specialized knowledge. - Experience in developing financial and operating plans for a major hospital department or division. - The ability to manage staff successfully and to work collaboratively and negotiate with peer level department heads and/or with external agencies/facilities on issues and programs. - Ability to assess the demand for pediatric physical and occupational services and to ensure that Children´s program meets that demand consistent with its overall mission and strategy. - Current state licensure as a physical therapist.Status: Full Time - 40 HoursSchedule: (i.e. Mon. - Fri.)
