In this key position, the Clinical Research Manager, under the director of our VP/Executive Director for Research and Analytics, will be managing the day to day functioning of the program, assuring compliance with all Federal regulatory and administrative issues involved in the running of clinical trials. This requires developing and maintaining systems to manage all administrative and clinical aspects of clinical research, developing research coordinator training programs, and clinical research continuing educations to ensure initial and continued certification of all staff involved.Responsibilities:Manages operational activities including all pre- and post-award functions associated with all clinical trials at VBMC and its affiliatesEnsures compliance with all governmental regulations, Joint Commission rules, clinical trial agreements, contracts and protocols governing the conduct of researchAccountable for the finances for the Research Program, compiling and disseminating statistical reports, managing the accounts payables and receivables, and on a quarterly basis distributing the funds received and paying the bills of the Program.Promote and maintain the reputation of the Research Program through quality assurance and participation with national groups involved in the management of clinical trials for the purpose of obtaining new studies from sponsors, increasing subject accrual to trials.Accountable for administrative and regulatory issues for pharmaceutical company studies, to include IRB submissions, negotiations of contracts, conduct of site visits, and attendance at investigator and initiation meetings.Ensures compliance by Research and Pharmacy staff with all regulatory, contractual and policy requirements, responsibilities and obligations related to the storage, use, tracking and management of investigational drugs and investigational devicesInteracts intelligently, professionally and diplomatically with external partners including funders, grantors, Contract Research Organizations, pharmaceutical and device companies and federal cooperative groups.Perform all managerial duties for the smooth, proper running of the clinical research component of the Office of Research and Analytics, to include hiring and termination of staff; interim and annual staff evaluations and resultant recommendations for pay increases; counseling, training and continuing educationHealth Quest is the Mid-Hudson Valley´s largest healthcare system providing the highest quality care across a broad spectrum of services. Located on the banks of the Hudson River, Vassar Brothers has established centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care and women and children´s health services.Education: Master´s of Science Degree in health related field preferred or Bachelor´s degree in nursing or related health care field mandatory.Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nursing plus ten (10) years of clinical research practice preferably in the oncology setting and five (5) or more year´s research managerial experience including research contract negotiations and budget development. Working knowledge of a clinical specialty, including treatment, patient care, diagnosis and follow-up to effectively work with the physicians, NCI and/or research agencies inclusive of compliance with regulatory requirements (i.e. Joint Commission). Industry experience a plus.
