The Nursing Information System Specialist I (NISS I) has advanced knowledge and proven application of that knowledge within a specific clinical discipline; in this case organ transplant services.
The NISS has a basic knowledge of the functions and applications of clinical information systems preferably with Organ Transplant Tracking Record (OTTR).Essential tasks/responsibilities:Interprets, modifies, analyzes and designs clinical systems, data, and information with supervision. Implements applications, tools, processes and structures that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and provision of health care. Provides systems support including hardware maintenance, trouble shooting, component replacement and repair, system monitoring and the installation and maintenance of software. Ensures security of technology solutions with supervision. Participates in planning and teaching of customer training sessions. Assists in making oral and written presentations to project teams and management. Completes moderately complex tasks and portions of larger clinical information system projects with direction. Identifies internal resources to build project team performance. Updates system, operational and department documentation. Recommends areas for process improvement.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Experience Work requires five years of clinical nursing experience to include at least one year of computer experience. Strongly prefer candidates with experience in transplant nursing and informatics experience with Organ Transplant Tracking Record (OTTR). An associates degree in mathematics or computer science combined with at least one year of clinical nursing experience may be substituted for the above.
