Position Summary: The incumbent in this position is responsible for all registration activities which include assessing the patient’s financial status, identifying a source of payment and obtaining sufficient information to permit reimbursement, ensuring the information is complete and accurate and interfacing with insurers and members of the health care team. Position Summary: Enters charges into A/R billing system. Reconciles data entry batches ensuring balancing of charges and time of service payments. Reviews encounter forms for accuracy and completeness prior to data entry. Completes clerical steps in charge entry processing in accordance with internal control procedures.Required Education/Training: High school diploma/GED Required Experience: Minimum one year performing data entry functions in a computerized A/R billing system environment. Knowledge of Charge Entry policies, procedures & practices in clinical practice setting -- including knowledge of basic billing practices as relates to ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding. Excellent data entry, key boarding skills - 30-40 wpm -- alpha & numeric -- minimum. Good touch skills with calculator. Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness and to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions.

Position Summary: Maintains and monitors financial transactions by assisting the Administrator for Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine with the day-to-day operations of payment posting, billing, and collections for the ambulatory care and inpatient units. Maintains financial records for accounts payable and accounts receivable relating to deposits. Responsible for the duties related to the daily capture and review of all charge tickets, furnishing coding and demographic data, prior to forwarding encounter forms to UBS. Doubles as the Medical Records Coordinator in charge of day-to-day operations in the Pulm/CC/Sleep Medicine records room. Performs a variety of administrative duties for physicians and administrative office. Coordinates services such as information processing, patient education and public relations, office management, course coordination. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: AA in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent education and experience. Bachelor’s preferred.Required Experience: A minimum of two years directly related work experience. Knowledge of Windows, WP, Excel, and Access. Extensive knowledge of third party carrier billing environment, Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in the following billing areas: charge entry, third party billing, collections and payment posting. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving and decision making. Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to produce reports/data in an accurate and timely manner and effectively meet deadlines. Good planning and organizational skills. Position Summary: Performs retrospective deficiency analysis on all outpatient records. Abstracts clinical data from the medical records for statistical and research purposes. Also, assigns the ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 codes as well as designate the appropriate DRG per record under prospective payment guidelines. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospitals philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and/or an Accredited Medical Record Program. Preferred experience in coding may substitute for degree. Must possess current DC licensure as a nurse and/or certification for an Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P), or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC)Required Experience: At least two years medical record coding experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Department: Administration Schedule: Full - Time Job Details: Position Summary: Conducts GUH audits and education sessions regarding the accuracy and completeness of medical documentation, coding and billing in accordance with GUH Compliance policies and federal, state and local regulatory compliance requirements. Completes compliance audits and reviews of select system-wide high risk areas in the facility billing process and communicates review findings to GUH and operating unit Senior Management as appropriate. Recommends and maintains compliance educational content on various topics as need determined by audits/reviews or other risk assessment activities. Recommends content for the GUH intranet site. Participates in compliance, strategic planning and risk assessment activities. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital´s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: Bachelor´s Degree or any other combination of relevant education and/or experience, preferably in health related or business administration. CPC Certification required. Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC) or similar certification preferred.Required Experience: One (1) to three (3) years progressively more responsible experience in operational, clinical or business management or similar field. Knowledge of healthcare compliance, regulatory law, CMS billing rules and OIG projects preferred. Excellent project management skills. High level of independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
