Provide department management for preparation and review of monthly financial statements. Ensure development, implementation and evaluation of departmental accounting standards.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1.Manage and evaluate performance to ensure quality of services and maintain technical expertise of workgroup personnel2.Coordinate and review work completed by Staff Accountant I & II3.Ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness to meet specified deadlines4.Maintain multiple general ledgers5.Review monthly journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as required to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.6.Review detailed monthly actual to budget variance reports to support practice management in the review of monthly operating performance.7.Review monthly reports for key indicators and statistics.8.Assist practice management, as needed with financial information requests and questions9.Coordinate distribution of monthly reports to appropriate practice management personnel.10.Review monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances.11.Participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections12.Coordinate and review annual personal property tax and Sales & Use tax returns, as required.13.Perform timely internal compliance audits for Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury and A/R (CBO), as directed. Maintain ongoing documentation.14.Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.15.Respond to requests for information from Corporate, Internal Audit and other internal management.16.Assist in the development, documentation and implementation of departmental accounting standards.17.Maintain strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and / or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure.18.Participate in ongoing professional development activities to remain informed of changing industry trends and government regulations19.Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - This position requires the following minimum requirements:1.Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems and sub-systems2.Knowledge of the financial accounting process3.Knowledge of research techniques to analyze and evaluate financial data and information4.Knowledge of accounting information systems5.Proficiency with PC-based spreadsheet and word processing programs6.Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational goals7.Skill in identifying and resolving problems8.Effective organizational skills9.Ability to identify and delegate work appropriately10.Ability to analyze financial reports11.Ability to prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports12.Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately13.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written14.Ability to work well with others 15.Ability to organize work independently and consistently achieve reporting deadlines16.Ability to interact with other individuals at all levels of managementEDUCATION - Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in accounting or other business related field. EXPERIENCE Five years of progressive accounting experience, including one year of supervisory experience. Preferably in a physician practice management or healthcare-related environment.
