GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - The Financial Reporting Manager, reporting to the HCAPS Controller, is responsible for having a detailed knowledge of the financial and accounting systems, both at the group and corporate level, and for developing complete and accurate financial and statistical reports. The Financial Reporting Manager will also be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Physician Database and acting as the DBA. In addition, the Financial Reporting Manager will assist in the facilitation and creation of all month-end reports for Corporate, Operations, Service Centers, Compliance, Sales, Enrollment, etc., all special databases, all ad hoc queries, and training materials for the reporting staff. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:1.Work with HCAPS administration staff and Information Systems (IS) to develop financial and operating reports that will monitor the progress of all practice entities at the Corporate, Group, Division, Market, Practice, and Physician level.2.Work with HCAPS Financial Reporting to monitor the setting up and tracking of all new COIDs assigned to HCA PHY .3.Issue and track the issuance of various identification numbers in the database system while maintaining its integrity and keeping it up to date and balanced.4. Determine and devise data collection, research techniques, data interpretation and analytical methodology to use for analysis purposes.5. Use statistical, economic, and financial principles and techniques to prepare reports. Makes recommendationsrelated to financial trends, forecasts, and clinic/practice performance.6.Review and analyze financial and statistical data for the Controller and CFO and other members of the management team.7.Create and monitor ad hoc or special reporting, interview individuals, conduct investigations, research and collect data and document findings where necessary.8.Evaluates operational techniques, budgets, programs and practices to ensure optimum economic operation.9.Maintains and reconciles the Physician Database daily and monthly and annually and make all conversions required for the new year.10.Assist controller in performing all necessary journal entries to close books for COID 6653 at month end.11.Maintain all reporting Access DBs in proper working order and ensure their accuracy and integrity. EXPERIENCE1. More than seven years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance or IS including two years in a health care organization.2. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for three years of healthcare accounting experience.CERTIFICATE/LICENSE CPA, MHA, or MBA preferred

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1.Manage and evaluate performance to ensure quality of services and maintain technical expertise of workgroup personnel2.Coordinate and review work completed by Staff Accountant I & II3.Ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness to meet specified deadlines4.Maintain multiple general ledgers5.Review monthly journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as required to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.6.Review detailed monthly actual to budget variance reports to support practice management in the review of monthly operating performance.7.Review monthly reports for key indicators and statistics.8.Assist practice management, as needed with financial information requests and questions9.Coordinate distribution of monthly reports to appropriate practice management personnel.10.Review monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances.11.Participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections12.Coordinate and review annual personal property tax and Sales & Use tax returns, as required.13.Perform timely internal compliance audits for Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury and A/R (CBO), as directed. Compiles charge information, assists in coding when needed and enters charges into the Practice Management System.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:1. Receives and reviews charge documents from the clinic.2. Ensures charge information provided is correct and accurate.3. Enters charges into the Practice Management System.4. Balances Charge Summary to tickets keyed before updating charges.5. Assists in charge capture by reviewing provider documentation and patient charts.6. Phones insurance payers on claim denials.7. Works in conjunction with A/R team on follow up and resolution of coding related denials and rejections.8. Abstracts CPT-4, HCPCS II and ICD-9-CM from medical records, operative notes, hospital admissions, consults, progress notes and discharges.9. Provides AR management for self pay accounts and balances.10. Coordinates with front office staff on payment/billing issues.11. Identifies quality issues with registration and scheduling activities.12. Acts as a resource for Practice Managers and Physicians with denials and coding questions.13. Keeps supervisor apprised of matters regarding charge entry.14. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.15. All other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES This position requires the following minimal requirements:1. Knowledge of CORE systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.2. Knowledge of medical terminology.3. Knowledge of medical coding and CPT-4, HCPCS II and ICD-9-CM.4. Familiarity with third party billing requirements and payment policies.5. Skill in organization.6. Ability to read and understand an Explanation of Benefits/Remittance Advice.EDUCATION A high school diploma or GED is required; however, an associate or bachelors degree in business or related field is preferred.EXPERIENCE One to two years of CPT-4, HCPCS II and ICD-9-CM coding, billing and charge entry experience in the health care field is required.CERTIFICATE/LICENSE Certified Procedural Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P) or equivalent required.
