Purpose of Position: Under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems, provides technical systems analysis, system design, system and application maintenance and computer application implementation for Kadlec Medical Centers computer systems. Performs related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation: Prefer an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or completion of a technical program in Computer Science. Experience: Requires a minimum of one year in the development, maintenance and analysis of applications programs and systems. Hospital environment is preferred. Five years appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of education.Licensure/Credentials: None.Other: Prefer bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills.Working ConditionsLocation of Work and Equipment Used: Primary work location is on the second floor of the North building. However, work requires incumbent to move about the hospital and associated facilities into all areas where computers are located. Approximately 80% of time is spent in office and the balance of the time in other parts of the buildings. Equipment Used: Computers and peripheral equipment, calculator, fax, copiers and telephone. A wide variety of reference material and manuals.Physical Demands: Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Physical demand level is sedentary to light. Requires good manual and finger dexterity to operate equipment and to handle documents, records and reference books.A moderate amount of stress is imposed because of heavy workload, inflexible deadlines and technical problem solving.Hours of Work: Day position, Monday through Friday. Exempt position. Incumbent may receive calls on weekends and off-hours for problem solving and will occasionally be required to assist with tasks outside normal work hours.Essential Job Functions1.Analyzes, identifies and eliminates computer application and interface problems, inconsistencies and abnormal results. Documents all work performed following department policies and procedures.2.Functions as Project Manager for implementations and upgrades, or serves as team member of projects managed by vendor representatives. Represents the Medical Centers best interests in all aspects of system implementation, design and support.3.Monitors accuracy of computer output and data integrity of databases and interfaces.4.Performs maintenance and administration of databases and other system files.5.Performs routine maintenance and review of systems event and operation logs.6.Troubleshoots malfunctions of computer hardware and software to identify and resolve users problems.7.Documents problem resolution for future reference.8.Uses reporting tools such as Crystal Reports and SQL to produce ad hoc and other reports as requested by users and to resolve user needs not met by current in-house software functionality.9.Reads and interprets reference and instruction manuals to determine procedures and processes to accurately use computer software and to resolve problems.10.Analyzes functionality and workflow of assigned departments; assists in the evaluation of computer systems to determine how available functionality can help solve problems and improve work flow; instructs user in computer software functionality and usage of new systems.11.Consults with users to provide support; determines systems and program requirements; identifies and resolves problems in existing systems and trains users in software capabilities.12.Operates a variety of computers and related equipment including mini-computers, peripherals, personal computers and software packages.13.Communicates with user departments on status and completion of work requests and problem reports.14.Develops test scripts to ensure software accuracy, completion and validity.15.Consults with hardware and software vendors to resolve problems when appropriate.16.Adheres to standard policies as outlined in department related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures.
