MetroWest Medical Center is the largest health care system between Worcester and Boston, Massachusetts. The 319-bed regional health care system includes Framingham Union Hospital, Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick and the MetroWest Wellness Center.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Business Office Manager, performs billing function and analysis of patient accounts.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Performs all functions related to facility third-party billing including edit corrections (using internet based claims management system), secondary submissions, rejections and appeals.2. Using Internet based contractual management system, identifies payment variances and the need for additional adjustment application and/or additional collection activity to the payer. 3. Performs daily, weekly and monthly account analysis by aging and insurance. Provides detail analysis when needed. 4. Direct contact with payers, patients, physicians, attorneys and other facility departments.5. Performs daily credit balance review to identify potential overpayments. Sets up and processes refunds to insurance carriers and/or patients.6. Works monthly Accounts Receivable report and performs all necessary functions to ensure timely and accurate collections of all outstanding accounts.KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:1. Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a High School Diploma.2. Minimum of 1 to 3 years of billing or related experience in a hospital environment.
