Petoskey offers its residents a choice of excellent public and private schools, an expanding community college, a number of churches, civic groups and cultural organizations, year-round arts events, excellent shopping and dining opportunities, and easy access to metropolitan areas like Chicago and Detroit just 30-45JOB SUMMARY: Director of the Cardiac InstituteThe Service Line Director of the Cardiac Institute will be responsible for the operation, growth and development of The Cardiac Institute and related physician professional practices. Through physician and community relationship building, the Service Line Director will build brand recognition, patient and physician loyalty, referrals and market share for the cardiovascular services of Northern Michigan Regional Hospital. JOB DUTIES (ALL ARE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)Physician/Provider Relations Develops and implements a business plan for the Cardiac Institute in collaboration with the Institutes providers (both employed and independent cardiology and cardiovascular and thoracic surgery practices) and NMRH management team and associated NMRH departments.In coordination with the NMRH Marketing and Planning Department, creates an ongoing sales strategy to build relationships with physicians and providers in NMRHs service areas to encourage Institute awareness and build referrals.In conjunction with the physician practice administrator, monitor the NMRH sponsored Cardiology and Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery physician practices with regard to all operational and business processes.MarketingCreates a brand awareness campaign for the Institute including a dedicated website and other communication channelsCoordinates with the NMRH Marketing and Planning Department in the development of formal wellness/health education programs for community using NMRH resources and community physicians.Utilizes public speaking engagements in NMRH region to build excitement and brand awareness for the Institute at civic organizations, Chambers of Commerce, health provider groups, etcDevelops formal marketing plans with Marketing and Planning Department to educate physicians and community about Institutes breadth and depth of services.OperationsWith the physician practice administrator and NMRH Management, develop annual and long term ancillary department and NMRH physician practices budgets for review and approval. Responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations of the Institute including transitions between inpatient and outpatient services to ensure optimal patient care, patient flow, patient scheduling, and physician responsiveness Work within the organizational structure and appropriate reporting relationships to help ensure effective hiring, training, and ongoing support of Institute staff Oversee participation in quality initiatives including the education, coordination and reporting of quality measurements (e.g. Health Grades, American College of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgery, patient/physician satisfaction surveys), payer sponsored Pay for Performance programs, and other NMRH performance improvement activities.Develop and report on metrics to monitor critical success factors for Institute servicesDevelop, implement, and apply policies and procedures to support Institute servicesInsure compliance with all government regulationsAnalyze monthly statistical and operational reports to effectively manage financial performance ExpansionIdentify opportunities and develop plans to successfully expand Institute services in the NMRH service areasSet up, staff and monitor services at satellite office locations for NMRH sponsored practices.
