AMEP Finance Responsibilities 1. Manages the monthly financial statement close process for Seton´s 501(a) organizations. Prepares and reviews journal entries in support of producing monthly financial statements for each 501(a) entity. Performs detail analysis of actual versus budgeted results and produce monthly variance reports for each entity. 2. Supervises and directs assigned staff in the timely completion of departmental objectives. 3. Assures that appropriate internal controls are in place and monitored to produce accurate financial statements for the physician organizations. 4. Works directly with practice administrators/managers to prepare annual operating budgets for physician practice(s) including volume projections, revenue trends, FTE requirements, supply costs and other operating expenses. 5. Provides support to the operating personnel in the physician practices including: preparation and monitoring of budgets, financial analyses to support programmatic initiatives and capital acquisitions and ongoing training and support to the operating managers to assist them in effectively utilizing financial reports to manage departmental operations. 6. Assists the physician partners and practice managers in monitoring actual versus budgeted activity on a monthly basis. Problem solves with departments to determine operational reasons for and action plans to correct significant negative budget variances. 7. Prepares periodic schedules supporting the calculation of the incentive compensation plans for each physician entity in accordance with the underlying compensation agreement. 8. Provides requested financial information to Seton Network Finance or Ascension Health regarding any of the 501(a) physician entities under associate´s direction. 9. Works on other special projects as determined by the Finance Director, including but not limited to review and assessment of financial implications of various contracting initiatives and investigation of cost saving initiatives. 10. Develops strong working relationships with practice managers, providing timely support to individuals in evaluating and understanding financial reports. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Masters degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Five (5) years of experience is required, to include at least two (2) years previous management experience and three (3) years experience in the healthcare industry, including experience in accounting, budgeting and planning. Additional years of experience in healthcare finance and management are preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred. Preferred Qualifications MBA with a concentration in accounting/finance; additional years of experience in healthcare finance and supervisory/management; physician practice management experience; certified public accountant; Skills Strong computer skills, including experience with database systems and spreadsheets is required. Effective communication skills are required.
