Responsibilities 1. Directs overall development of the strategic and operational business plan for the specialty area in collaboration with the leadership core for the specialty and in consultation with the appropriate SFH personnel. 2. Provides leadership oversight of the specialty area, including but not limited to the core clinical science departments of the Institute, the integrated Health System departments and units and functions which are directly accountable to the Regional Director and indirectly through patient care services for units which are important functional components of the Institute. 3. Collaboratively develops specific goals and objectives for the specialty area and the Director and manager level direct reports, and establishes timetable for achievement of goals. 4. Develops appropriate policies and procedures that guide the operation of the specialty area towards achievement of the standards and benchmark indicators. 5. Develops and recommends appropriate operational and departmental budgets including personnel, supplies, travel and capital equipment request; assures departments are operating within budget. Immediately advises the appropriate leadership personnel of any events that will cause a department to be over budget; determines that the problem can be resolved or officially request a budget amendment. Identifies opportunities for budget reductions as appropriate. 6. Recommends director and manager level hire and terminations and collaborates with executive medical leadership on maintaining a competent and productive staff. 7. Collaboratively works with the Director of Operations and their program/practice managers to establish strategic goals and objectives to ensure financial goals are achieved and resolve operations issues. 8. Develops appropriate infrastructure to develop and launch plans for business development for the specialty area, including development of integrated financial models with other health system partners. 9. Develops achievable strategic plans for areas of responsibility in conjunction with the leadership core. Upon approval, develops operational plan and implements on plans. Seeks endorsement of action and drives towards demonstrable progress. Directs the preparation and maintenance of reports for key areas of performance for the Institute. Prepares as requested periodic reports for board of directors and senior leadership of SFH. 10. Provides for 24-hour/seven day week accountability for areas of direct responsibility in accordance with Network policies and procedures. Facilitates all staff through effective change management methodologies and processes. This includes medical professional, technical, and support staff. 11. Facilitates appropriate medical management through the medical directors of the specialty area. In conjunction with the management team including clinical faculty, directors and managers, troubleshoots and problem solves on a daily basis access, patient flow and satisfaction elements for patients, families, referring physicians, etc. 12. Represents the organization positively and confidently. Creates a climate that fosters personal investment, customer service, clinical and performance excellence. Demonstrates leadership, versatility and promotes collaboration and team work. Works in close cooperation with members of the organized medical staff (clinical faculty and allied health professionals) and other hospital personnel to ensure the highest quality of care is rendered to patients. 13. Develops plans for enhanced, effective marketing/promotion of the specialty area according to state of the art techniques. Facilitates a positive public relation and community outreach component for the specialty. 14. Monitors and optimizes financial performance and reports appropriately to the members of the clinical faculty for the specialty area as well as SFH leadership. Works in close cooperation with Finance to obtain ideal performance. Minimum Qualifications Masters Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration is required. Four (4) years of executive/management level experience in physician organizations is required. Ten (10) years of overall management experience is preferred. Other Information Position Summary: The Regional Director, in collaboration with medical and patient care leaders, provides leadership, direction, and overall Executive management for the outpatient specialty services and component clinical/research programs delivered by the members of the medical specialty. The Regional Director works collaboratively with the specialtys Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Academic Officer, and other Directors within the associated disciplines. Core responsibilities will include: -Operational vision of the specialty -Financial performance of the specialty and associated programs - Strategic development of specialty and existing and new programs - Providing second tier program negotiations - Business plan development, Financial analysis, ROI evaluation and pro formas for new programs - Second tier support in physician recruiting and contract negotiations - Facilitating the development of a multi-year business plan - Develop and maintain specialty and program operational budgets - Monthly reporting and evaluation on the specialtys financial and clinical outcomes performance - Maintain a liaison role between physicians, Seton Administration and other entities In addition to general functions related to the delivery of optimal patient/family-centered care, operational responsibilities will include supervision of staff, serving as a medical/Executive liaison, financial management, leadership, staff development and mentoring, program development, project coordination, communication throughout organization and externally, maintenance of environment and security, medical office/Executive policies, conformance to all regulatory requirements and continuing education. The Regional Director will also develop business plans in accordance with SFH and the medical specialtys standards, execute business plans as approved by SFH and specialty leadership, develop appropriate internal and external relationships to maximize the integrated health systems and specialtys effectiveness, and facilitate problem solving across organizational units that support the services provided.
