Job Title: Clin Quality Review Coord RN Location: Seton Medical Center Hays Full/Part: Full-Time Days - 8hr Shift: Responsibilities 1. Collaborates and partners with physician leadership to perform ongoing review of physicians care and patient outcomes. Collects, verifies and evaluates data relevant to physicians professional performance used to make evidence-based decisions regarding appointment to membership on the medical staff and recommendations to grant or deny initial and renewed clinical privileges. 2. Assists Director in interpreting and/or analyzing the results of ongoing physician performance evaluation (OPPE) datum to provide physicians with systematic, timely and periodic feedback on all dimensions of physician performance within the Seton Family of Hospitals including Clinical Quality of Care, Service Quality, Patient Safety, Resource Utilization and Citizenship. 3. Partners, leads and supports medical staff councils and medical staff specialty services in the coordination, implementation and sustainment of medical staff quality improvement initiatives. 4. Assists and provides direction for the development of medical staff clinical indicators with which to monitor and evaluate the quality of care and services rendered by physicians by collaborating effectively, efficiently, and appropriately with medical staff leadership and medical staff members. 5. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and requirements, state and federal statutes, and medical staff bylaws, rules and policies. 6. Coordinates outside physician reviews by a third party when requested by the medical staff. 7. Assists with and supports medical staff education regarding peer review and regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree from an accredited nursing program (BSN) is required. Training or experience in system/process analysis and performance improvement is preferred. Five (5) years post-graduate nursing experience is required to include broad clinical knowledge and one (1) year in a leadership or administrative role. Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Texas is required. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree with 5 years nursing experience in quality improvement preferred. Must feel comfortable in performing ongoing reviews of physicians care and patient outcomes. Must have excellent computer skills and ability to use statistical analysis tools. Position will office at SMCA three days a week and SMCH two days a week. Must have reliable transportation. Skills Knowledge of change management, strategic planning, horizontal management and working with matrices is required. Must be able to understand and interpret regulatory standards as well as implement systems to comply with them. Must have knowledge of state laws related to physician licensure, allied health professional licensure, medical staff peer review, as well as awareness of state laws that have impact on the medical staff or hospital. Effective communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills; analytical ability; ability to use statistical analysis tools. Knowledge of information systems and working knowledge of hospital financial systems.
