UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, MA is the largest health care system in Central and Western Massachusetts and the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
The Director, HIM Operations will report to the Senior Director, Health Information Management. Will direct all daily business operations within the Health Information Management Department. Participates in the ongoing strategic planning for future direction, growth and development of HIM including the programmatic and technological direction as a result of migration toward electronic medical records. Functions as a member of the management team and supports UMass Memorial Healthcares direction towards an optimal Health Information Management operation.Qualifications Required for the Position: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, Health Care Administration or a closely related field. Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Technician (RHIT) required. 7 years relevant experience required. Knowledge of Health Information Systems. Thorough knowledge of Joint Commission requirements, and Federal and State guidelines applicable to health record completeness and privacy. Ability to withstand significant level of on-going pressure, and ability to deal with physicians with tact, discretion and diplomacy. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to use all MS Office Applications. Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems, isolate faults, and design and implement corrective action plans. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
