The Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, at the University of Arizona is seeking a Department Administrator to direct it´s financial and business operations.
The rapidly expanding Department is the second largest clinical teaching and research department in the College, employing more than 50 clinical and basic science faculty in 10 divisions and administrative units. The Administrator will assume leadership of an existing strong administrative team and will report directly to the Department Chairman in all matters pertaining to the departments clinical, research and academic missions.This individual will direct overall departmental business and financial operations, with emphasis on the operational and financial management of the clinical practice. Day-to-day responsibilities will include management of clinical, grant and fund raising revenues; development and recruitment plans; marketing; physician compensation plans; coding, compliance and electronic records management; creation of reports to provide useful clinical practice information to the Department Chairman and administrative team; and development and execution of organizational/staffing plans for faculty and non-faculty.Located in the high desert community of Tucson, Arizona, the UA Department of Surgery is the College´s most rapidly expanding department.Minimum qualifications:- Bachelor´s degree in finance, business administration, health care administration or closely related field.- Five or more years experience in administrative position in health care, including broad scope of managerial responsibility.- Experience in academic practice management.- Familiarity with surgical clinical services specialties.- Excellence in interpersonal skills and professional conduct.Preferred qualifications:Master´s degree in business administration, health care administration or related field.The UA is an EEO/AA employer.
