TITLE (REQ ID): COOK (88734) DEPARTMENT: Cook EMPLOYMENT TYPE: FULL TIME SHIFT: (VARIED) HOURS PER PAY PERIOD: 80 SHIFT HOURS: 8HOUR FACILITY: BAKERSFIELD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL LOCATION: BAKERSFIELD, CA FACILITY INFORMATION As our city grows, the New West Tower affords Bakersfield Memorial Hospital the ability to treat more patients, allowing families to stay close to home rather than traveling elsewhere for services and quality care they need and deserve. Patient rooms that offer privacy for patients and family, which enhance healing. The new 114 bed West Tower includes 24 state-of-the art ICU beds, helping Memorial meet the growing demand for beds from patients coming through the Emergency department. There are two additional 30-bed telemetry/med surgery floors and a new 30 bed Family Care floor (post-partum, GYN). Our tiniest patients receive the highest level of care from Kern County´s most experienced and trusted doctors and nurses in Memorials expanded Neonatal Intensive Care unit. This unit is equipped with the most advanced technology and soon our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit will be open to treat local children with critical healthcare needs. The New West Tower has given Memorial Hospital over 400-licensed acute care beds, making Memorial hospital the largest full service Hospital in Kern County. POSITION REQUIREMENTS - 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education in culinary program and experience. - High school diploma or GED. - Preferred Completion of formal culinary course in college or culinary school. - Trained in preparing foods in large quantities; proficient in using commercial preparation and cooking equipment and following standardized recipes. - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and adjust measurements of ingredients. - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. - Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.- Ability to interact and communicate with all customers and team members in a positive, professional manner; Facilitating customer-centered service and promoting our Quality People-Quality Care goals.- Must be able to read, write and speak English. - Current ServSafe Certification.

Department: DCMC Food Services Responsibilities 1. Prepares adequate amounts of good quality food on time; utilizes leftovers properly. 2. Prepares food for the following days use in adequate quantities and on time. 3. Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area. Practices good sanitation and safety standards. 4. Contributes to the creative of a positive, productive work environment. 5. Attends in-service training seminars/meetings as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of institutional experience as a cook or assistant cook is required. Preferred Qualifications Seeking experienced cook to work in all aspects of business, including patient services. Must be able to work every other weekend, including Saturdays and Sundays. Must be able to work relief position to fill any shifts from 5 am to 9 pm. Previous cooking experience required. Formal culinary training a plus! Skills Knowledge of basic mathematics is required. Ability to read and write English is required.
