GENERAL SUMMARYProvides leadership, personnel management and communications within the department to the Associate Providers (APs) of Behavioral Health. Effectively leads and manages the health care quality, service and productivity provided by the Associate Providers. Works with the Chief and AMD of Ambulatory Medicine to ensure effective and efficient operations of the department. Supports the Chief in meeting budgetary requirements in conjunction with Associate Provider staffing and expense. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES1. Responsible for implementation and administration of regional policies to the APs, including clinical guideline standards, human resources policies and general administrative policies.2. Responsible for maintaining staffing levels of APs as indicated by standards of access and budgetary standards. 3. Works with the scheduling supervisor and Director of Primary Care Operations to ensure appropriate scheduling of APs within the department. Monitors the productivity of the APs and ensures efficient operations within budgetary guidelines. Develops initiatives to resolve productivity issues such as patient no shows. 4. Ensures high level of patient satisfaction related to AP care. 5. Works with Professional Recruiting to ensure an effective recruiting process that meets HR compliance guidelines and ensures that new hires offer quality care. Works with Chief to ensure that the appropriate specialty is being recruited for the needed position. 6. Develops clinical service goals and objectives for APs consistent with TSPMG mission and strategic business planning efforts. 7. In collaboration with Chief, develops quality initiatives for APs including both implementation and outcomes. Develops appropriate and well-defined measures and targets for its medical and service quality initiatives. Monitors measures and takes action to meet or exceed targets. 8. Provides effective leadership and communications to APs within the department. Assures that APS activities and directions are developed in a manner consistent with TSPMG´s overall mission and directions.9. Collaborates with the chief to ensure that front office operations and Health Plan support staff across all facilities are effective and efficient in their work processes and provide customer service in an appropriate manner. 10. Actively develops and supports a sense of teamwork within the department. Assures that the APs of the department are fully knowledgeable of TSPMG/KP´s needs from the group, including specific targets for budget, cost of care, service and quality. 11. Personally models high standards of clinical and personal behavior, of positive attitude and of individual performance. 12. Actively works to promote a sense of physician/associate provider partnership throughout the clinical unit.13. Identifies quality problems with individual providers through peer review, the analysis of formal complaints and the annual review of provider confidential files. Takes appropriate actions to assure correction of these individual quality problems.14. Supp0rts the Shared Success mentoring program for new hires. 15. Participates in the appointments of module and team leads. 16. Collaborates with Chief to conducts the formal TSPMG annual performance appraisal process for APs in a timely and effective manner. Assures that timely development, implementation and follow up of effective Work Improvement Plans when necessary. 17. Participates actively in the development of an appropriate department-level operating budget. Implements appropriate actions as directed by the Chief to assure that actual operating financial performance meets or exceed budgeted. Identifies and communicates future capital needs of the department to the Chief, as an active participant in the preparation of KP´s overall capital budget. 18. Maintains a high level of personal knowledge about the outside healthcare environment for behavioral health, particularly as it impacts managed care organizations like KP and the individual specialty. 19. Participates in appropriate training and development activities to assure continued professional growth in leadership skills and knowledge.20. Effectively utilizes staff and resources. 21. As the Director of Rehabilitation Services for the University Hospital of Brooklyn the Divisional Administrator directs and coordinates the operations of the therapeutic services within the University Hospital of Brooklyn including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, an 18 bed inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and Neuropsychology.
