Nature of WorkThe Director of Finance and Administration in the Department of Medicine (DOM) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the administrative activities of the Department and 14 Divisions, and ensuring compliance with all internal and external policies and procedures that govern the department´s efforts. The Director oversees the Departments fiscal affairs, human resources, and day-to-day operations in support of the Departments and Schools mission and goals. The Director serves as the representative for the School of Medicine (SOM), the University of Colorado Denver (UCD), and the University of Colorado (CU) with regard to relevant fiscal and administrative matters. The Director ensures consistency between the policies and procedures of the SOM, UCD, University Physicians, Inc. (UPI), University of Colorado Hospital and CU.Supervision ReceivedThe Director of School of Medicine reports directly to the Chair of Medicine and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration of School of Medicine. As a senior-level professional, the Director is responsible for overall financial matters concerning the Department and its business and administrative functions. Supervision ExercisedProvides indirect supervision to the Residency Program Administrator and the Student Affairs administrative staff;indirect supervision of the Departments decentralized medical coding staff occurs through the Clinical Operations Manager;direct supervision to the Departments staff (currently 4: admin asst, exec asst and 2 managers) ; oversight of each divisions fiscal and administrative management to ensure the financial accountability of the Department; and advises and assists faculty in supervising the divisional staff.Duties and Responsibilities1. A master´s degree is preferred, however experience in lieu of the masters degree will be considered.-A minimum of eight years of progressive professional management and financial experience preferably in an academic medical center environment.-Knowledge, experience and ability to manage complex information and computer systems.-Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students; experienced in the supervision of administrative and support staff personnel.-Effective communication/presentation skills and a proven track record of forming collaborative and effective working relationships with physicians and administrative leaders.Preferred Qualifications-Familiarity with Peoplesoft Human Resources and Financial software.-Experience in patient care operations including clinical revenue cycle operations.-Experience with grant administration including federal and private sponsors.Salary RangeStarts at $110,000

To manage and coordinate the activities of the registration department at the Hospital, as well asat satellite service areas. To ensure that the patient is treated with dignity, respect and kindness.Emphasis will be placed on patient services, fiscal goals, community relations and staff development. Qualified candidates will have a Associates Degree in Business or a related field (Bachelors preferred) with a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in Health Care. Knowledge of insurance verification preferred. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
