Safety Director needed in Baltimore!

Coordinates all activities of the various departments within the Hospital to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission _TJC) Environment of Care (EC) and Life Safety (LS) standards, and compliance with all Federal, State, and Local environmental and worker safety regulations. Actively participates in emergency preparedness and management activities. Provides health and safety education and services as needed to the Associates of the Hospital.Principle duties and responsibilities include: Directs the hospital Safety programs, Coordinates development, review and revision of related policies, Co-Chairs the Hosplital´s Environment of Care Committee, Investigates safety incidents/injuries involving Associates and visitors; leads and/or actively participates in efforts to reduce these incidents, Conducts Environmental Rounds and maintains organizational life safety requirements. Provides Safety education and training for Associates and physicians. Manages the operations of the Department of Safety. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Associate or Bachelors Degree in health, safety or closely related field.REQUIRED LICENSURE: Certification as a CSP, CHSP, CIH, HEM, CHMM or ability to achieve one of these certifications within one year of employment. Documented ability to provide training in areas of safety compliance.EXPERIENCE: At least three years experience in providing compliance services in environmental, fire, and worker safety fields to a medical institution. Significant knowledge of the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System and Emergency Response Planning. Demonstrated knowledge of TJC EC and LS Standards and applicable regulations from OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and LSC. Able to review draft documents for compliance with BOCA and local building codes. Communicate effectively through written and oral communication. Strong organization and analytical skills. Computer proficiency and ability to interpret statistical data. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate and work with persons of a diverse background. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Single departmental function supervision and/or shiftsupervision in accordance with hospital policy. Responsible for thedaily administration of tasks, scheduling and problem solving relatedto assigned areas. Supervises environmental services staff, coordinatesand schedules efforts of the housekeepers. Plans work and trains newemployees. Plans monthly cleaning schedule. Collects data for budgets.Assists in evaluation, disciplinary, and employee problems. Assists inselecting new employees, checking discharges, and daily cleaning.Position is responsible for meeting applicable regulatory standards,approving supply orders and department strategic planning. Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.Minimum Experience: Three years environmental service experience.Preferred Experience: One year supervisory experience preferred.Preferred Certifications/Registrations: Internal Housekeeping Association CertificationSpecial Skills:Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions.Must have basic computer skills. Provide safety, health, and environmental management support for a federal government client´s facilities and installations program.

Key Role:Provide safety, health, and environmental management support for a federal government clients facilities and installations program. Support a broad range of technical and program management functions, including industrial hygiene monitoring, job hazard analysis, laboratory safety, health and environmental inspections, and accident investigations. Perform advanced data collection and synthesis, prepare written reports and summaries, and lead major assignments. Develop safety and health training materials and conduct presentations for a variety of audiences. Key Role:Provide analytical support and subject matter expertise in the areas of force health surveillance, deployment occupational and environmental health, preventive medicine, health risk assessment, and epidemiology to the DoD deployment force health protection (FHP) program. Ensure the currency and effectiveness of DoD deployment health policies addressing the full spectrum of pre-, during-, and post-deployment health requirements. Review existing DoD deployment health policies and programs and identify Joint capability gaps, deficiencies, and adverse trends. Provide analytical support for proposing and supporting the revision or development of new policies, programs, products, and risk management approaches to address these gaps, deficiencies, and trends. Support DoD, Joint, and international working groups by providing DoD health affairs-level representation, leadership, vision, and subject matter expertise. Represent the client at meetings, conferences, and other venues internal and external to the DoD. Basic Qualifications:-12+ years of experience with the Military health system-Knowledge of military public health, preventive medicine, and occupational and environmental health-Knowledge of the intricacies and full spectrum of deployment health-Secret clearance-MS or MA degree in Public Health Additional Qualifications:-Experience with policy development at a Major Command, Military Department, Combatant Command, or Joint Staff-Experience with Military deployment-Knowledge of the Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS) process-Knowledge of health risk communications-Possession of excellent analytical skills-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills-Possession of excellent facilitation skills-MD or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree preferred; PhD degree a plus Clearance:Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
