Wentworth-Douglass is hiring for the following position:Genetic Counselor – Full TimeThis position offers a unique, professional opportunity to join in the start-up of a genetics practice in the extensive network of primary and specialty care providers within the Wentworth-Douglass Physician Corporation. The genetic counselor will be responsible for: gathering and reviewing pertinent medical records in preparation for clinic visits for counseling; completing medical history and family pedigree and interpreting the data to identify risks; assessing patient’s physical, emotional and financial needs to plan for appropriate care; providing supportive counseling and/or referral to community resources when appropriate; providing information about the genetic diagnosis, etiology, inheritance patterns and risk of occurrence; educating associates and physicians regarding the role of genetic counseling and testing; assisting with the implementation of standards based on guidelines from The Joint Commission, The American College of Medical Genetics, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) treatment guidelines, Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and American College of Surgeons (ACoS) standards.Requirements: • Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling• Minimum of 3 years genetic counseling experience• Certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics• Strong interpersonal skills and critical thinking • Familiarity with electronic health records is preferred
