Brack Emergency Room Responsibilities 1. Insures proper operation of all medical equipment assigned, minimizing downtime and interruption of service to meet customers’ needs. 2. Develops, implements and maintains an effective system of documentation that addresses the inventory, availability, current condition, useful life and financial expenditures relative to all equipment assigned. 3. Designs and maintains a reporting system with required documentation necessary for compliance with federal, state and Seton policies and regulations to relative to all assigned equipment. 4. Provides training and in-service to Plant Operations service technicians and users of the assigned medical equipment. 5. Communicates effectively with department management to acquire internal and external resources necessary to maintain, repair and/or replace equipment assigned. 6. Establishes and maintains communication links with all users of assigned equipment to establish schedules for maintenance and repair of equipment that is essential in the performance of duties. 7. Reads and interprets blueprints, operator’s manuals, electronic schematics and other technical information necessary to troubleshoot and repair malfunction equipment. 8. Collaborates with other technicians (i.e., plumbers, electricians, biomedical techs, etc.) when necessary to accomplish repair or replacement of assigned equipment. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of one year of formal training education specific to interpretation of various types of technical literature, electronic troubleshooting and repair, plumbing, electrical controls and/or related fields of study is required. An Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred. Three (3) years experience in equipment maintenance to include a working knowledge of building utility supply systems. Skills Must have strong organization and work prioritizing skills an must be able to perform duties with minimal direction/supervision. Strong interpersonal/communication skills are essential. Must be able to design, develop and present department policy and procedures which relate to maintenance, repair and proper operation of the assigned medical equipment. High School Diploma/GED Minimum of 5 years of experience Summary: Under direction, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled to advanced electrical trades work related to various installation, maintenance and electrical repair tasks and projects for the hospital. Employees in this classification function with considerable independence and latitude in judgment concerning methods, materials, and priority of assigned work orders. Work areas include, but are not necessarily limited to, new construction, outdoor structures, and interior facilities. Position coordinates assigned work projects in a manner to minimize disruption in hospital activities. Work may include leading work crews when applicable to the assigned work orders. Performs related work as directed. Required License, Certification and/or Registration: Master Electrician License  Required Experience:  5 years progressively skilled and knowledgeable commercial and/or industrial journey level experience in electrical trades work, with demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical codes, architectural drawings, and electrical specifications; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and knowledge of NFPA 99, NEC (NFPA 70), Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), JCAHO requirements, and demonstrated superior workmanship skills in electrical project management and supervision of others. Under the supervision of the Plant Operations Director, the Supervisor will assist in administering, both minor and major projects, insure safe conditions and proper functioning of all fixtures, hardware and systems to comply with all local, state, and federal laws.The Supervisor will plan and direct the activities of the maintenance, security and communications departments, as well as oversee the programs to maintain building, grounds, equipment, and utility distributes in and around the Medical Center. Assures that all preventive maintenance is fully documented and that records are accurate and updated on a timely basis. Installs and tests new equipment. Assists other trades personnel as needed in handling materials on major repair or installation projects. Performs electrical safety checks of hospital equipment, e.g. beds, electrical receptacles, electrical appliances and patient owned appliances. Assures that all electrical tests are fully documented and that records are updated. Maintains established hospital and department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, environmental and infection control; ensures compliance with codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies. Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, etc. Follows tool check-out, and parts/inventory procedures. Installs water and steam lines. Installs electrical services. Rehangs sinks and stools and other plumbing fixtures. Performs repairs and maintenance on all Kitchen equipment. Performs repairs and maintenance on steam sterilizers. Repairs, maintains, and installs nurse call equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment. Performs elevator rescue. Performs repair work tickets as assigned. Creates tickets for items identified as needing repair. Schedules work with other departments as required. Performs a variety of general remodel, repair, overhaul and construction duties in the Health Center. Carries out tasks with capabilities involving a variety of construction and remodeling projects. Monitors and inspects work to insure compliance with codes and regulations. Reviews work orders, priority status, and designated time schedules. Sketches plans and/or reads and interprets blueprints and specifications; estimates time, material and cost requirements. Requisitions/orders materials and other supplies and equipment required for remodeling and construction projects. Prepares materials for installation, replacement or repair of remodeling and construction projects. Builds, repairs, and installs as directed within the capabilities of the trade. REQUIREMENTS:Must be available to work various shifts, call and /or additional duties as required to insure the proper operation of the facility. Knowledge of how to trouble shoot systems and equipment. 2 years construction experience relevant to the primary (essential) responsibilities defined or implied in this job description. *Note: The building related maintenance experience, the trouble shooting experience, and the construction experience can be concurrent. 2 years hospital related experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and blue prints of all types. This includes electrical, mechanical, architectural, and process type drawings. Plan, organize, direct, and control the facilities management functions of the hospital, including but not limited to planning, design, construction, alteration, operation, maintenance, and disposal of plant facilities and equipment. Establish goals, objectives, standards of performance, develop and implement operating policies and procedures; interpret policies, standards, regulations, and codes to personnel.Qualifications Education: • Bachelor degree from an accredited school in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent education such as Associate degree and Certified Hospital Facilities Manager.Experience: • Five years experience, preferably in hospital facilities management. • Sufficient previous progressively responsible experience. • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, local standards and codes, and requirements of regulatory and accreditation agencies; standard operating procedures for plant operation; budget development, control and direction; personnel management; work standards for skilled personnel; material and equipment suppliers.
