We are currently seeking an experienced, talented professional to join our hospital system as the Director of Materials Management. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the NE Supply Chain and the Hospital Chief Financial Officer, The Director of Materials directs the material management operations of the medical center, including ancillary branches, providing timely and cost-effective purchasing, contract compliance, receiving, distribution, printing, mail processing, and transportation. Also responsible for implementing and leading a number of cross-functional Materials projects. Accountable for the Hospital Supply budget. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Manages the Material Management Departments, including:a) Developing short and long term goals for areas of responsibility and formulating plans to accomplish goals.b) Developing, securing approval of, and administering a budget for areas of responsibility which provides for the attainment of agreed-upon goals in accordance with approved plans. c) Formulating policy for areas of responsibility and secures appropriate approvals; developing and administering procedures relative to purchasing, receiving, distribution, contract compliance, printing, and mail processing necessary to implement approved policy.d) Communicating and enforcing material management and hospital-wide policies and procedures. e) Providing the overall direction and direct supervision necessary to ensure effective and efficient material management services.f) Interviewing, hiring, and, when necessary, disciplining and recommending the discharge of subordinates, including management-level personnel; ensuring that managers and staff are adequately trained to perform effectively and encouraging their participation in continuing education programs; establishing standards for effective job performance and evaluating subordinates according to such standards, and ensuring that reporting managers do likewise.2. Establishes and maintains an internal control structure in material management areas requisite with producing an internal audit report containing no major issues; develops policies and procedures for the Medical Center and branches that provide for compliance with Hospital material management guidelines. 3. Ensures, through the development and implementation of policies and procedures and enforcement thereof, compliance with hospital standard purchasing agreements at a level acceptable to management.4. Responsible for compliance to HPG, Vanguard and Regional contracts.5. Ensures the timely, cost effective delivery of approved material purchases to departments, branches and clinical areas in such a manner that patient care and day-to-day operations of the medical center are met; demonstrates leadership and teambuilding skills to provide for compliance and buy-in of departments not directly reporting to the Director of Materials Management.6. Accountable and responsible for the development, tracking and reporting of all supply cost savings initiatives.7. Reviews all monthly supply reports and provides explanations for any variances to Region and Hospital management.8. Advises and informs Region and the Hospital of any matters which may adversely impact the operations of the hospital related to material matters, and recommends, when appropriate, cost-saving solutions with regard to material matters.KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:1. Bachelor´s Degree in Business/Health Care Administration or relevant discipline required. Master´s Degree in relevant discipline preferred. Excellent analytic, organizational and communication skills. Possesses TQM knowledge base. Comprehensive knowledge of the entire field of Materials Management. Strong knowledge of hospital operations.2. Five to seven years experience in Health Care operations (specifically Materials, including five years of successful supervisory experience. - Proven performance demonstrating responsibility and accountability.- Proven history of project development and execution.WORKING CONDITIONS:1.
