An acute care medical language specialist transcribes the basic four reports (history & physical, consultation, operative report and discharge summary), in addition to numerous diagnostic studies from other departments in an acute care facility. Required Experience: At least three (3) consecutive years experience in acute care transcription with ability to type the basic four reports, in addition to maintaining quality and production standards. Required Competencies/Behaviors: -Demonstrates thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and BOS Transcription Guidelines. -Meets quality and production standards. -Familiarity with ESL dictators. -Demonstrates proven skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, style and editing. -Demonstrates the ability to use designated professional reference materials. -Demonstrates good computer skills and familiarity with transcription software. -Experience with Meditech and/or EXText Word Client helpful.

Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. Supervises transcriptionists with assistance from Department Manager.Supervisory/leadership experience required.One of the following required: A. Completion of a Medical Transcription program. B. Completion of an accredited Health Records related program including courses in medical terminology, anatomy/physiology and pathophysiology.Two (2) years medical transcription experience in a hospital setting required.AHDI Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) required.Experience and/or training in computer applications including experience with word processing equipment, dictation equipment/software and other office equipment required.
