The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking qualified executive-level candidates for position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of our hospitals and community-based services behavioral health services; Developmental Disabilities; Safety and Risk Management; Internal Audits and Investigations; Certification and Policy and Planning for the State of Georgia. The current structure includes seven (7) hospitals and five (5) Regions with approximately 8,000 employees and a $700 million budget. Additionally, the COO carries responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of the organization with the operations. The COO provides management oversight for the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated programs within the hospitals and regions. He/she will exercise management responsibility over the hospitals and regions ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of consumers, physicians, the public and staff. This will either be done directly, or through delegation of responsibility to the management staff. Other responsibilities include developing and fostering effective collaboration between divisions, medical staff leadership, and other affiliated services (inside and outside of the department) to ensure an integrated approach to providing services, and fulfilling the departments goals and objectives; as well as communicating key information to the stakeholders of these service areas with respect to care, cost management, and customer-focused services.
