Wilmington Hospital is an acute care hospital which has the specialty units of the Joint Replacement Center and the Center for Rehabilitation. Wilmington Hospitals Center for Rehabilitation is unique in that it has the areas only Easy Street environment - a system of specifically designed activities to simulate the challenges patients will face in their everyday lives. Riverside Transitional Care facility, located in Wilmington, is the sub acute component of Christiana Care Health System. A Sample of Duties/ResponsibilitiesEvaluates patients, establishes treatment goals/outcomes and implements patient care plan. Observes precautions, indications and contraindications for all treatment procedures. Monitors progress of patient, re-establishes goals and revises treatment plan according to protocol. Provides written and verbal communication with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other personnel involved with the patient on patients rehab status and recommendations. Communicates routinely with occupational therapy assistants to monitor patient progress/status, re-assessments needs, and change in treatment plan. Effectively uses conventional therapy techniques such as modalities, ROM, strengthening, ADL training, cognitive/perceptual training, manual therapy, wound/burn care, lymphedema management, hand therapy, splinting/orthotic to achieve established patient and therapy goals. Therapist must demonstrate competency in therapeutic procedures as determined by the clinical specialist, supervisor or manager. Provides education and training to patients/part-time caregivers and family to effectively maintain level of progress achieved in therapy program. Develops written home exercise programs and instructions. Educates other health care professionals to the role of occupational therapy as well as providing training and in-servicing in areas of expertise. Will utilize proper body mechanics for personal and patient safety. Will demonstrate the ability to safely lift, transfer and mobilize patients and equipment. Participates in mandatory departmental and hospital-wide in-services including safety and rehabilitation equipment review. Documents findings in the patient medical record according to department and hospital policy. Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Maintains current MD script, insurance authorization and submit daily charge sheets. Participates in departmental QA/QI programs. Basic RequirementsBachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy, from an accredited college or university. Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Rhode Island, or current ability to become so licensed.

Current D.C. license or qualified candidate for D.C. License as an Occupational Therapist and certification by the OT Certification Board.Required Experience: Entry level, basic education as defined in education with certification requirements. Demonstration of baseline knowledge of relevant OT practice and flexibility. Emotionally mature, can objectively analyze situations, identify and problem solve, listen and express oneself orally and in writing. Pediatric NICU and PICU experience strongly preferred.
