Experienced Operations Manager Respiratory Care

Participates in planning, implementation, management and evaluation of service/department activities for Children´s National Medical Center in accordance with accepted national standards and administrative policies.Bachelor´s degree required; Licensed Respiratory Therapist in DC with 5 years of related and progressive experience; health care management experience preferred; minimum 1 year supervisory experience required.

The Respiratory Therapist under the general supervision of the Manager or Lead Therapist of the Respiratory Care Department, administers respiratory care to patients, obtains and analyzes blood gas specimens, and performs sleep studies and pulmonary function tests as ordered by a physician. Performs all essential functions with consideration of the age-specific needs of the geriatric, adult, and adolescent patient. Fosters patient and family centered care and healthcare services, in accordance with the Lifespan and The Miriam Hospitals mission, vision, and values, with consideration of the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.Associates Degree in an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification or registration required. Must be licensed by the State of Rhode Island as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. New graduates of an accredited Respiratory Care Program will be considered pending results of National Board for Respiratory Care Entry Level Examination.Interpersonal skills to instruct and calm patients. Analytic skills to interpret blood gas reports, calculate results of pulmonary function tests and synthesize interrelated data from various medical disciplines. Leadership ability to establish priorities, assign work to practitioners when assigned charge responsibilities, and instruct students.Ability to operate all respiratory therapy and diagnostic testing equipment.All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patients.One year of experience as a respiratory therapist preferred.Completion of an AMA approved associates degree program in Respiratory Therapy. Licensed to practice as an RCP in the State of RI.

Experience in newborn, peds, and adult critical care preferred. ACLS, BLS & NRP, PALS certification within 6 months of employment. Looking for someone who has good interpersonal skills and can communicate well with physicians, staff, and patients. Flexibility a must!
