Master´s Degree SUMMARY:  The St. Agnes Physician Assistant I, Surgery is a Certified and Registered individual who is delegated to perform medical acts in accordance with the Physician Assistant´s Delegation Agreement as approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance and as supervised and directed by the Physicians of the St. Agnes Department of Surgery.  As members of the health care team, the Physician Assistants provide a broad range of medical services in the evaluation and care of St. Agnes surgical patients.  Those services are provided as needed in the hospital´s operating rooms, nursing units, emergency department and pre-admission testing suite.    The essential functions of the Physician Assistant include clinical procedures and cognitive skills prescribed by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.  The Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery at St. Agnes must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the human life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient´s health status.  She/he must interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient´s requirements relative to age, and provide needed care as described in the department´s policies and procedures.    Required Education:  Successful completion of an NCCPA Accredited PA Program   Required License, Certification and/or Registration:  NCCPA Certification, Maryland License   Required Experience:  No experience required for entry level PA I position.   Preferred Experience:  Surgical first-assist experience   HJ  

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking PAs to collaborate with its surgeons in a growing state of the art academic practice. Our practice consists of 8 surgeons. Our physicians are recognized as experts in all areas of the field including: robotic cardiac surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, and minimally invasive valve surgery practicing at Froedtert Hospital and other local/regional hospitals. The section of neurosurgery at Virginia Mason Medical center is looking for an experienced surgical PA-C provider to work with our neurosurgical staff. Our medical staff is comprised of three neurosurgeons and is supported by two mid-level providers, an RN, and three surgical schedulers. The successful candidate would share both hospital and clinic duties with other midlevel providers which include: surgical assist, hospital rounds, patient assessment, perform admission history and physicals, write orders for laboratory and radiographic tests, and share in weekend call coverage.
