Our Pediatric Cardiodiagnostics Department is currently seeking an Echo Supervisor with the following qualifications: 1. Registered by ARDMS in Pediatric Echocardiography, Fetal Echocardiography and Adult Echocardiography. 2. Minimum 5 years in pediatric and fetal imaging. 3. Ability to perform echocardiograms with guidelines set by St. Joseph’s Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography. 4. Ability to manage a busy Pediatric Echo Lab 5. Proven ability to work and effectively communicate with physicians, sonographers, and managers and other ancillary hospital staff. DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists in the implementation of the immediate and long term goals of the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory. 2. Responsible for echocardiography laboratory daily operations that include coordination of schedule and work flow. 3. Directly responsible for maintaining the proper functioning of the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography Laboratory’s physical plant and equipment. 4. Coordination of sonographer daily activities and facilitating a smooth work flow in accordance with set guidelines. 5. Coordination and participation, if necessary, in Outreach services. 6. Coordination and participation in Telemedicine services. 7. Assists the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory Director in preparing annual appraisals for sonographers and Echo Lab non-technical staff. 8. Responsible for resolution of human resources and human relation issues of the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory technical and non-technical staff. Promotes professionalism in employee-employee and employee-patient relationship. 9. Acts as Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory liaison to enhance relationship with Medical Center administrative, medical, technical and clerical staff members. 10. Facilitates continuous quality improvement process within the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory and assists the lab Director in doing that function on an interdivisional basis. 11. Monitors and implements Echo Lab database information entry. 12. Responsible for assuring accuracy of in-patient, out-patient, and outreach echo billing. 13. Assists the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography Laboratory Director in preparation and management of the Echo lab annual operational and capital budget. 14. Performs echocardiograms in accordance with set guidelines. 15. Facilitates implementation of imaging guidelines set as standard for the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory by the Director. 16. Facilitates consistency in imaging quality among other sonographers according to the set imaging guidelines. 17. Assists the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory Director and other authorized physicians in preparation of Echo Lab materials for clinical and educational conferences. 18. Participates in educational and research conferences involving echocardiography with the approval of the Echo Lab Director. 19. Assists the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory Director and other authorized physicians in training physician-trainees and medical students. 20. Assists the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory Director in the Lab’s educational program for sonographer-trainees. 21. Participates in research protocols with the approval of the Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography laboratory Director. 22. Supports St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Catholic Healthcare West goals and initiatives.

Job Title: Regional Leader, Diagnostic Imaging Physics Work Site: Vancouver General Hospital Status: Regular Full-Time - Permanent Reference#: 026670 JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the Regional Director, Diagnostic Imaging, the Regional Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of Diagnostic Imaging physics staff throughout Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Fraser Health Authority (FHA). The Regional Leader provides guidance, regional leadership and scientific expertise in the medical applications of physics to facilitate high quality and effective delivery of Diagnostic Imaging services needed to support program/service delivery and plans within a multi-site academic, research and client centred environment. He/she is a key organization resource for physics staff, Diagnostic Imaging team members and medical staff in providing clinical treatment, calibrating and commissioning equipment, training medical and diagnostic imaging students and technologists, and conducting research and development on techniques and equipment. In addition to leading a team of highly skilled scientific staff, works as a team player with colleagues and co-workers and in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders in continually developing and improving methods to image body structure and function, to employ radiopharmaceuticals/pharmaceuticals for the diagnosis/treatment of disease and body function, and to achieve excellence in client and family centred care, education and research. QUALIFICATIONS:PhD in Physics, or a related Biomedical discipline, plus a minimum seven (7) years recent, related experience in progressively more senior positions providing leadership and direct supervision within a large unionized health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Membership in Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) and Fellowship of the Canadian College of Physics in Medicine (CCPM). In cooperation with other personnel at the Regional Research Laboratory, performs and conducts radiobiology research; publishes research results; applies or supervises the application of new techniques and technologies to selected problems in radiobiology such as immunologic models of tumor growth and regulation; makes research results/findings available to physicians and other researchers through publication, reports and presentations. Provides radiation biology support for patient treatment protocols and studies by providing advice, consultative services, assistance with data collection and analysis, and conducting seminars. As Radiation Safety Officer: Plans, implements, coordinates and assesses the hospital and medical office buildings radiation safety program, utilizing knowledge of radiation safety regulatory requirements; ensures that all regulatory requirements are complied with by assisting department heads and other appropriate hospital managers and personnel to enforce and comply with regulatory and safety requirements, policies and procedures. Assists department heads and other appropriate personnel to enforce safety regulations and reduce exposure by identifying violations/hazards and recommending new policies and procedures based upon reports of incidents, accidents and non compliance.
