Phoenix Children´s Hospital is the only specialty children´s hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the state´s largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 345 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose:Under the direction of a licensed health care professional, performs various clinical and administrative tasks for theassigned area. ** This assignment is approximately 6-8 weeks in length.** Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work is performed in a climate controlled office area with extended periods of sitting and occasional walking. Work activities require using desktop computer equipment, requiring the ability to use fingers to type and enter information and visual acuity, including normal color vision, to view information on documents and computer monitors. Activities include, but are not limited to, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasionally pushing, pulling, and/or lifting equipment up to 50 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, work to short deadlines, and apply multi-tasking skills to coordinate projects with overlapping and/or simultaneously occurring timeframes. Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job. Requires effective and positive human relations skills, including confidentiality, in order to appropriately interface with all levels of Phoenix Children´s Hospital staff, physicians, patients and their families, and other contacts. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:-Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.-Graduation from a Medical Assisting program. Preferred Qualifications: -Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).-Graduation of a Medical Assisting program that is accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES.-One (1) year of experience in a healthcare or pediatric setting.
